
Asian Fairy Bluebird (Irena puella)
Widespread in the region, found in China, India, SE Asia, etc. This forest
bird's presence, like many species of such habitat where visibility and light
is limited, is more often noticed first by voice. The call of this species
are loud clear ringing whistles. This is a 25cm bird, of the canopy and understory
in lowland evergreen rainforests. Recent DNA studies place the fairy bluebird
within the family of Leafbirds.The nest of the fairy bluebird, as that of
